On behalf of the Information and Communication Theory Lab at the Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) and the NESTOR European Doctoral Network. We are excited to invite you to our upcoming workshop, Modern Classical and Quantum Optical Fibre Systems, which is going to be January 22 at the Tu/e.
This workshop promises to be an enriching experience for anyone passionate about optical communication and cutting-edge technologies.
This event will feature a series of insightful talks from renowned experts in the field:

- Dr. Olga Vassilieva (Fujitsu Technologies)
- Dr. Metodi Yankov (Coherent Corporation)
- Dr. Chigo Okonkwo (Eindhoven University of Technology)
The schedule includes:
- Morning Talks:
- 09:15 – 10:00: “Channel Modelling for SDM Transmission” by Prof. Magnus Karlsson
- 10:00 – 10:45: “Digital Signal Processing and Constellation Shaping for Coherent Optical Transceivers” by Dr. Olga Vassilieva
- 11:00 – 11:45: “FEC for Pluggable Coherent Optical Transceivers” by Dr. Metodi Yankov
- 11:45 – 12:30: “Embedding Quantum Communications into Existing Optical Systems” by Dr. Chigo Okonkwo
- Coffee breaks and networking opportunities will be included throughout the morning.
- Afternoon Activities:
- 13:20 – 15:30 : A hands-on DSP Hackathon focused on algorithms for optical communication in fiber optics.
- Closing Session:
- 16:00 – 17:30: PhD thesis defense by Sebastiaan Goossens, ICT lab, Eindhoven University of Technology.
